The Bulgari, also known as saz or baglama is an traditional stringed instrument from central Asia,

here it played by Udi Ben Kna’an who is one of StringsStudio.com chief instrumentalists.

Is an old Createn instrument, known in turkey as Saz or Baglama.
It is a long necked lute with 7 strings -two double strings and one triple string.
It’s neck has adjustable frets, also set for quater tonal intervals.
It is played both with a plectrum and the fingernails.
It can be tuned to play on all keys. The tunings I ussualy use are D-G-A , D-G-C and D-G-G.

N’goni Burkina

The N’goni is the african harp, a traditional pentatonic instrument from west africa.
here it played by Udi Ben Kna’an who is one of StringsStudio.com chief instrumentalists.

Is an african harp made out of gourd (dried pumpkin) and wood, and it is similar to the Kora, but is distinguised by the following:
- it has 8 strings
- it is tuned in a pentatonic scale
My N’goni has been made in Israel by a masterbuilder and is special in it’s quality and build:
- it has 12 strings rather than 8.
- The tuning keys are metallic and of high standard making tuning much more acurate and durable.
Both A minor pentatonic and C major pentatonic scales can be played.

Afgani Rebab

The Afghani Rebab (rabab) is an ancient stringed instrument from central Asia,
here it played by Udi Ben Kna’an who is one of StringsStudio.com chief instrumentalists.

One of the most ancient stringed instruments in the world, orginally from the area of modern Afganistan and nothern Kashmir.
It is made from a singel piece of hollowed-out wood with a skin membrane stretched over the opening.
Combinations of gut (or nylon) and metal strings pass over a bridge made from bone which rests on a the membrane.
It is played with a hard plectrum.
My Rebab has 3 main strings, 2 high (chikari) strings and 15 sympathetic strings.
The neck has both fretted and unfretted areas.
It is usually tuned in forths from the middle string of either C,B,F, or G (for example G-C-F).
It has an extremely long natural sustain and internal “reverb” thanks to the wood, skin and sympathetic strings.
